Each new year brings new hope. Happy 2020 is over! But cancel any resolution plans. Master one thing and everything else will fall into place.
Jesus gave us the one thing in the book of Matthew: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”
Honestly, these words will take a lifetime to master, but imagine getting closer to this goal each day. Yes we are happy 2020 is over, so what if, instead of trying to fix everything that is ultimately out of our control, we focus on following God? Our God who doesn’t change and promises to keep us satisfied.
Rev. Billy Graham Explains
The late Rev. Billy Graham states our journey so well: “We must come to the place in life where we ask: Do we know where we’ve come from, do we know where we are, who we are, and—most important—do we know where we’re going? There comes a time in our lives when each person must answer the question: Where do I stand before God?
When we’ve had our sins forgiven, and our iniquities covered by the blood of Christ, there’s hope, there’s joy, there’s peace, there’s purpose, there’s meaning, and then we can say, “Because Jesus lives, we can face tomorrow.” Bill and Gloria Gaither, the great songwriters, penned these words: Because He lives, all fear is gone, because I know He holds the future, life is worth the living just because He lives.” (Read his post here.)
2 Corinthians 5:17, Living Bible: “When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun!”
Matthew 22:37, The Message: “Jesus said, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.’ This is the most important, the first on any list.”
