OLYMPIC EFFORT

Olympic Effort

If over-thinking were an Olympic event, I could rival Mark Spitz for gold medals. It takes an Olympic effort to overcome this mind game!

I’m sure I am not alone in my efforts to avoid over-thinking. Wait, let me think about that, am I? No, surely not! Anyway, I’m sharing these steps in over-thinking avoidance and hope it helps.

At the moment we realize we are over-thinking something or someone, stop. Take a deep breath. Remember, God is with us. Try to forget about ourselves and our feelings, positive or negative, and how we need to figure this out. We do not. Trust God to show us the next step and be okay in not knowing the big picture. We can stop the analysis and redirect our thoughts to gratefulness.

Like any Olympic athlete, it takes an Olympic effort of practice and training. Let’s trade our over-thinking medals for God’s crown of life in heaven!

Philippians 4:8 & 9, The Message: “Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.”

James 1:12, Living Bible: “Happy is the man who doesn’t give in and do wrong when he is tempted, for afterwards he will get as his reward the crown of life that God has promised those who love him.”
