Lather, Rinse, Repeat

Lather, Rinse, Repeat

To my blogging community: do you ever feel like you are repeating yourself or writing about the same stuff all the time? Do you wonder if you should quit, shake things up, or try something totally different?

Me too!

Recently I read something encouraging from Billy Graham:

“In college I had a professor who deliberately repeated himself three times. He said that the people in the first two or three rows will get the message the first time. The second time the people in the middle of the lecture hall will get it. The third time the people in the back will get it. And the ones in the front row will never forget it.

We need to keep that fact of human nature in mind as we share God’s love with the people He puts in our path. We need to repeat ourselves—to repeat our acts of service, our deeds of love, and, yes, our words of truth.”

Fellow bloggers, we are made for a purpose. Our experiences give us authority in certain areas because we have lived through things, been really focused or enjoyed certain things that we learned a lot about.

Don’t ignore your gift, it may just be the inspiration that someone else needs to hear, or give them a new interest, open them up for a needed distraction, or make them curious enough to explore something new.

I am a firm believer that God directs our gifts to be a blessing to others.
We may not always know how we impact someone’s day or life, like ripples in water, our words can go on and on.

If you are thinking about trying a new format or subject, go for it! But by all means, don’t stop what you are doing. Don’t stop repeating yourself. It’s who you are and what you do. People out there need you!

“So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9

I agree with you that God directs our gifts, sometimes in ways and means we don’t expect. And I appreciate the reminder not to dismiss our gifts. I worked with a guy who employed the 3-peat method often, especially when making an announcement or a point. Thanks for sharing your gift with us, Dana.

For some reason your posts don’t show up in the WP reader, Dana. However, I receive them via email and always read them. Commenting on here is iffy. I’ll see if it works this time.

This is so, so good, ““So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.” Galatians 6:9”

Thanks, Dana. I, along with many others, need this post. We write, but can’t see people rubbing their chins while considering the words and wisdom. Rarely do we learn if they adopted and adapted that knowledge, turning it into wisdom for their daily lives, so we trust God for the outcome. I appreciate your encouragement!

Indeed, in our world of noise, everyone needs a kind word and inspiring wisdom. Keep shining your light, Grant!

You truly never know when something you do, say, or write will make an impact. All too often we tend to write “cautiously” today as to not offend anyone. Honestly, I am guilty of that at times. However, recently, I’ve decided that my faith is a large part of who I am. I shouldn’t avoid sharing things I learn in my Bible classes. I shouldn’t avoid sharing a Christian music song. It is those things that may get me unfollowed, but that is ok. I can’t please everyone, and not everyone is going to agree with me. Truth is truth, and what I have learned is that truth offends people.

I agree, Keith. Planting that seed of hope will never fail to encourage someone, even if they don’t realize it at the time, it will return to their memory when they need it most. Thank you for sharing your stories and life lessons with us!
