Quotes: Our Choice

Quotes Feature

These quotes help us recognize we can’t control the way others behave, but we can control our choice to remain in their proximity. These quotes go along with my Pearls and Pigs post, and if you missed it, you can catch up here. You are a precious pearl and don’t deserve to be trampled!

I hope these quotes will help us see the importance of our choices, especially in our relationships.

And now for a totally random turn: do you think you know all about George Washington? I liked his quote and thought I would do some research. Boy, was I surprised at what I found. Maybe I didn’t pay enough attention in school, but here are a few interesting facts I learned about our first president:

  • The cherry tree and wooden teeth stories are myths.
  • George was 6’3” tall.
  • He had no formal education after age 15.
  • A dog lover, he owned many breeds.
  • The electorate unanimously elected Washington president for both terms.
  • Washington was into spy craft. History.com writes, “According to the Central Intelligence Agency, “General Washington was more deeply involved in intelligence operations than any American general-in-chief until Dwight Eisenhower during World War II.”
  • Loving parties, he was an excellent dancer and enjoyed talking with the ladies.
  • He was an innovative farmer.
  • Physically tough, he survived several battle injuries and many illnesses.

I love Einstein’s advice, Dana, and thanks for the updates on George Washington — who knew?
