Faith, Hope, and Love

As we say hello to a new year, I am filled with thoughts of faith, hope, and love.

Am I, as the saying goes, wearing rose-colored glasses? I don’t think so. But I am focused on who I know to be full of love and faithfulness, and I realize, more and more, what I have control over and what I do not.

I am mindful of the challenges we all go through, some more difficult than others. I am thankful for all I have and the strength I have cultivated from surviving my struggles, bolstered by a loving God.

Although life is tough, we can make it beautiful by being kind and generous to others.

Here are my prayers for you, as you practice faith, hope, and love in the coming year:

In these politically charged times, may you find comfort in the sovereignty of God. (Proverbs 21:1)

May you experience the intimacy of God while immersed in the beauty of His creation. (Romans 1:20)

I pray you know the joy of true connection as you reach out to those around you, both familiar and complete strangers, who need to feel the sincerity of love. (Proverbs 11:25)

May decisions along your path be clear and filled with peace.
(Proverbs 3:5-6)

By using gratitude to refocus negative attitudes, may you be hope for the hopeless. (Psalm 42:5)

May you know Shalom as defined by Timothy Keller, “Shalom experienced is multidimensional, complete well-being—physical, psychological, social, and spiritual; it flows from all of one’s relationships being put right—with God, within oneself, and others.” (Romans 15:13)

Remain content in the “three things that last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.” from 1 Corinthians 13:13.

My last prayer for you today is from Numbers 6:24-26, “May the Lord bless you and protect you. May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you. May the Lord show you his favor and give you his peace.”

As we boldly greet the new year, may we remain optimistic, exuberant, and confident that love conquers all fear! (1John 4:18)
