*Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the theologian and pastor, is best known for his resistance to the Nazi regime and his role in attempting to assassinate Hitler. They executed him a few weeks before the end of the war on April 9, 1945. His writings from prison, revealing his unwavering faith, are amazing. You can read more about him here.
