PRAYER

Prayer

Have you noticed there is a five-step program for almost anything? Reaching God through prayer is not one of them.

However, people have tried to create a formula. But remember, Jesus said to come to Him as a child. That means we do not need to complicate it. We don’t need five steps. Just one — talk to Him.

In addition, don’t get all caught up in legalism. In other words, God wants to have a relationship with you, a conversation, interaction. For instance, get in the habit of a daily prayer time. This one step will help keep your mind on God and His ways. It will help strengthen you and prepare you for whatever the day brings.

Begin your Prayer Journey

Not sure how to begin? Above all, try the prayer Jesus taught in Matthew. “The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They are full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray like this: Our Father in heaven, reveal who you are. Set the world right; Do what’s best — as above, so below. Keep us alive with three square meals. Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil. You’re in charge! You can do anything you want! You’re ablaze in beauty! Yes.” The Message

In conclusion, after you pray, listen for God’s still small voice as He responds to you.

Colossians 4:2, Living Bible: “Don’t be weary in prayer; keep at it; watch for God’s answers, and remember to be thankful when they come.”

Lamentations 3:22-24, Living Bible: “His compassion never ends. It is only the Lord’s mercies that have kept us from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; his loving-kindness begins afresh each day. My soul claims the Lord as my inheritance; therefore I will hope in him.”
