As we deal with current events, we all need a break from the daily turmoil. How can we unplug ourselves from experiencing physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion? How do we keep our thoughts from wandering or racing through a litany of what is or what ifs?
Cultivate God-confidence. Don’t allow the worries of life to choke out your spiritual life. Ask God for what you need. He is there to supply you with strength, comfort, patience, and the ability to forgive.
Unplug from world news and plug into God news. Take more time in prayer, listen to worship music, or find a new devotional book. A great one is Hope for Each Day by Billy Graham. Look for stories of God at work in this world of chaos. Reach out. He is there.
Psalm 42:8, New International Version: “By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me—a prayer to the God of my life.”
1 Corinthians 10:12 & 13, The Message: “Forget about self-confidence; it’s useless. Cultivate God-confidence. No test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.”
Luke 8:14, Living Bible: “The seed among the thorns represents those who listen and believe God’s words but whose faith afterwards is choked out by worry and riches and the responsibilities and pleasures of life. And so they are never able to help anyone else to believe the Good News.”
