Your Connected Purpose

Your Connected Purpose

I hope this series has helped you recognize, or at least reassure you of your connected purpose. In trying to find our purpose, what we have been talking about all along is the fruit of the spirit.

When you get to know Jesus, then His Holy Spirit lives in you. It is a promise. If you allow Him to work in you, then your life will naturally produce evidence of His influence on you, what the Bible calls fruit.

“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Galatians 5:22.

Your purpose is you! Be confident in who you are. Believe in what you are doing. When you stay connected to God, the fruit of the spirit’s guiding reveals your true purpose in how to interact with others. You will touch people no one else could. The way you look and speak will be the perfect combination for someone else to relate to, and God knows who that is!

True joy comes from knowing you are living out your purpose revealed in seeking God.

We rob ourselves of pure joy when we don’t believe God will finish what He’s started in our lives. We rob ourselves of peace when we feel everything is up to us. Peace and joy belong to those who trust that God will finish it, no matter how it looks. Pressure does not come from God. Free yourself with this truth: Do your best, and let God do the rest!

“Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice! Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:4-8

Amen … This deeply affirms how staying connected to Jesus brings purpose, peace, and lasting fruit.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” In Colossians 3, Paul says that we need to “put off the old man” (verse 9) and have “put on the new man” (verse 10). Our pastor explained that while we are made a new creature in Christ, we still carry the “old man” (the flesh) around with us. As a new creature/man in Christ (the Spirit) we find that the two battle against each other. The flesh wants to continue doing the things it did before the new man arrived. We are told to “walk in the spirit (new man)” and not in “the flesh” (old man). By studying and storing up the doctrine that the Bible teaches, we equip ourselves to do that walking in the spirit and ignoring the flesh. As long was we are here on earth, the two will battle each other. Reading God’s Word and having the knowledge of who we are in Christ makes it much easier to deal with the flesh.

    I hope that made sense
