Happy Friday! As our last Monday Motivation had us focused on peace, did you consider if your purpose is to be a peacemaker?
This is not a job title, but a way of life. It is embracing all that is positive in the world. Being able to lift people up and not bring them down. Encouraging instead of criticizing. Putting the needs of others above your own agenda. Check out The Message version of 1 Peter 3:8-12:
“Summing up: Be agreeable, be sympathetic, be loving, be compassionate, be humble. That goes for all of you, no exceptions. No retaliation. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. Instead, bless—that’s your job, to bless. You’ll be a blessing and also get a blessing.
Whoever wants to embrace life and see the day fill up with good,
Here’s what you do: Say nothing evil or hurtful; Snub evil and cultivate good; run after peace for all you’re worth. God looks on all this with approval, listening and responding well to what he’s asked; But he turns his back on those who do evil things.”
There could be volumes written about all the ways we could spread peace in our world, and I think there is great joy to be had by being a peacemaker. Let the promises of God speak to your heart!
Here are a few of my favorite verses:
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9
“Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness.” James 3:18
“You [the Lord] will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal Rock.” Isaiah 26:3-4
“[Jesus said] I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
See you Monday as we continue our motivation series. Fill your weekend with peaceful moments that you give and receive!
