I am a believer in positive thinking and affirmation statements to build self-confidence, but only because I first believe in God.
By myself, my power is limited. But I am not by myself. I have a connection to a loving God who holds the power to change things beyond my abilities. He gives me a depth of purpose I could not imagine on my own.
After reading this story, I hope you will also find your purpose in the power of God.
My sister has been dealing with some physical heart issues. She had a little defibrillator and monitor put in last year. At her latest check-up, her heart doctor was concerned about her numbers and scheduled a visit to the hospital.
Much to our surprise, there was talk about open heart surgery to attach a device to help her heart, which then escalated to a complete heart transplant. Shock electrified the entire family, and we quickly took action on the only thing we knew to do—pray!
The progressing days were full of confusion, which is not what you want to hear from heart doctors. The tests and monitor numbers were not matching their expectations. After juggling her medications, they sent her home.
The hospital cancelled her follow-up appointment two weeks later. The surgeon looked at her monitor results, said her medication was working well and all surgery options were off the table, no pun intended.
Back at her original heart doctor’s office, the inquisition began. How is it possible to go from a heart transplant to you’re okay, take your meds and have a pleasant life? The doctor laid out all the evidence of the progression, but had no explanation for the recovery. “We don’t really know what happened,” she said. My sister’s last question to her doctor: “do you believe in the power of prayer?”
I pose the same question to you, dear reader. Do you believe in the power of prayer? Are you open to a loving, miracle-working God working in your life? Will you believe that the same God will instill in you the purpose of your life?
My sister presented her doctor with undeniable evidence! I encourage you to experience the power of God for yourself. Build your belief in Him by spending time in prayer. Soon you will have your own evidence to share!
“The earnest prayer of a righteous man has great power and wonderful results.”
James 5:16
“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”
Ephesians 3:20
