Now, I know I gave you a smile with that first quote. Do you remember Red Skelton? I loved watching him as a kid. Red started in Vaudeville at 15. Began a radio program in 1937 and moved to TV from 1951 to 1971. The Red Skelton Hour won 3 Emmy Awards. At the end of every show, he would say, “Good night and may God bless.” He appeared in over 40 movies and continued to perform on stage in his later years. Red was also a painter, writer, and music composer.

Fun fact: Red enjoyed rock music and had several guests on his program. The Beach Boys made their network television debut in 1963. He also showcased The Rolling Stones (before they appeared on Ed Sullivan), The Kinks in a rare US appearance, The Animals, and Iron Butterfly, among others. To learn more about Red, visit his museum’s website. Just a heads up, he considered himself a clown and often dressed as one. So, if you have a thing about clowns, skip the museum site. Although, I can’t stand clowns and did okay with it! I think I have Stephen King to blame for my aversion to clowns because I liked Red Skelton as a kid!
