Inspiring Stories: Kick But

Inspiring Stories

In this edition of Inspiring Stories: Kick But, I will introduce you to Hosanna Wong. I learned about Hosanna through a bible app that offers quick studies from books by various authors.

Here is a quote from her book, You are More Than You’ve Been Told, “The words people have said to you do not have the authority to define you. The things that didn’t go the way you hoped will not be the end of you. The places and people who have hurt you and held you back do not have the power to roadblock what God wants to do in and through your life. When you know who you are, it changes how you live, and you can start to live out the right story.”

Hosanna has an interesting background, being raised by parents involved in an urban ministry on the streets of San Francisco. She talks about the challenges of growing up in that environment, watching someone being murdered, and the many struggles that go along with inner-city street ministry.

Christians Still Wrestle With Feelings

Although she grew up in a Christian home, she battled feelings of being unworthy and unimportant. This gets right to the heart of kicking but and our concepts of mental health and self-care. There are so many factors from our past, our experiences, that form our story and who we are. But we don’t have to stay stuck with negative stuff. God is with us, and together we can change our self-talk, mindsets, focus, and beliefs in who we are. We have the power to kick buts!

Hosanna is now an international speaker, bestselling author, and spoken-word artist. She travels around the world to perform and share her story.

Her video, I Have a New Name, is especially powerful. Here are links to her video on You Tube and my affiliate link to her book on Amazon.
