Like a ballet dancer needs a focus point in a pirouette, we need a focus point in an ever spinning world to keep our balance and not fall.
Through teaching the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus shows us to focus on God daily:
[Jesus said] Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
Matthew 6:9-13 NLT
Lamentations 3:22-23 tells us His mercies are new every morning:
The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.
Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
As a ballerina must practice daily, we need to practice our faith. Why? To get better and stronger. To be prepared, have more stamina, and be able to perform through whatever life demands of us.
Yes, God’s loves endures forever, but keeping our faith going is not a one-and-done prospect for us. By connecting to God daily, we stay balanced and ready for the next steps of life.
Our focus point on God is really an attitude, a perception, a core belief. When we are certain, then circumstances won’t change us. We won’t panic and collapse. A misstep won’t steal our joy. We will keep on dancing!
[Jesus said] And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.
Mark 12:30 NLT
