Even Adam and Eve questioned the purpose of life. Apparently, naming all the animals, taking care of paradise, and walking with God in the garden, didn’t stop them thinking, is there more?
Over thousands of years, we humans have been searching for the answers to life and making a complicated mess of it. What if it is simpler than we think?
Here are a few things we know:
- God made us in His image, made each of us unique, and gave us the gift of free will. We are thinking, creative beings able to make our own choices. His love and grace are endless, and He wants to remain connected to us.
- God made us to work. The gift of our free will allows us to choose work we love to do. All forms of work are a blessing. No job is more important or better than another.
- Jesus taught us the best ways to behave within society during the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew, chapters 5-7. By following these guidelines, we can create a peaceful, giving, and loving lifestyle.
- Jesus also instructed us to share our faith. This is not just a job for preachers, but for all of us. But we don’t have to quote Bible verses to everyone. We can show our faith by the way we live our life. We can exude so much joy and peace that people will ask, “What’s up?” The perfect conversation starter!
How peaceful, joyful, and fulfilled we will be when we release ourselves to God’s care and His plan, do our work wholeheartedly, and are a blessing to those around us. Is life really more complicated that this?
You made the moon to mark the seasons, and the sun knows when to set. You send the darkness, and it becomes night, when all the forest animals prowl about. Then the young lions roar for their prey, stalking the food provided by God. At dawn they slink back into their dens to rest. Then people go off to their work, where they labor until evening.
Psalms 104:19-23 NLT
When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:14-19
