TALENT

Talent

God created you for a purpose. Sometimes you are good at something but don’t really enjoy doing it. Do you recognize a talent from a skill? The key is to find the right fit, then you will flourish.

Basketball legend, Larry Bird said, “A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills, and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.”

Briefly, talents are inherent abilities, gifts people have, which need to be recognized and coached. Skills are learned tasks you develop through  training.

Recognizing your talents is only the beginning. Follow through with developing the skills needed to support them. I love to sing but, only with training could I perform adequately in public!

Develop your talent for god

What are your God-given gifts? Did you know them at one time but lost sight of them? Do you know what they are but don’t see how they fit into Godly service? What comes naturally to you? What makes you happy or excited to get out of bed in the morning?

Accept who you are and what you do best. It took a pandemic for me to finally embrace the fact that I am an introvert and have been since childhood. I have learned that writing and producing podcasts is perfect for me. Don’t compare your abilities to someone else. Recognize your gifts, keep developing those skills, and you will get there!

1Peter 4:10, in the Living Bible says, “God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings. Are you called to preach? Then preach as though God himself were speaking through you. Are you called to help others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies so that God will be glorified through Jesus Christ—to him be glory and power forever and ever. Amen.”
