MEMORY LANE

Memory Lane

Like a time machine, does a song transport you to a specific spot on memory lane?

Whenever I hear Bobby Vinton’s Roses are Red, I am instantly sitting in front of our family console record player as I create paint by number artworks from my TV Tray studio. I can still smell the paint.

Trips down memory lane can be positive or negative. The key is to appreciate them for what they are and move on. Don’t get stuck in “glory days.” If we linger too long, our minds dramatize or romanticize memories that can skew our judgement or perspective.

God is in the present. He is finished with the past and He already knows the future. He is working, guiding, and loving you in this present moment. Enjoy your happy memories when they surface. Learn from past mistakes, with the reassurance of God’s grace and mercy.
