Do you have someone you trust with your thoughts and feelings? One that you know will always tell you the truth and offer friendly advice? Is your relationship with God personal enough to include Him at the top of your list?
When you meet someone new, you don’t truly know that person without having a conversation with them. The same is true with God. How does God speak to us? He speaks through His Bible, His Holy Words.
The intimacy of your relationship with God depends on communication. Send your concerns and praise up with prayer and He sends His answers straight to your heart as you read scripture. In a previous post, Unique, we discussed your relationship with God as uniquely your own. It is important to read His Words through the filter of your life experiences. Be careful of only reading books about the Bible and skip reading with your own eyes. God will guide you to the unique answers you seek for encouragement, enlightenment, and instruction.
2 Timothy 3:16, Living Bible: “The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right.”
Lamentations 3:22-26, English Standard Version: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in him.’ The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”
