CORONATION DAY

Coronation Day

The royal custom of Coronation Day honors a person by publicly placing a crown on their head. In the United Kingdom, the last Coronation Day was in 1953 when Queen Elizabeth II received her crown. It was impressive, and if you are interested, you can see it on YouTube.

D.L. Moody, a beloved evangelist from the late 1800s, referred to coronation day while dying. Reportedly he said, “Earth is receding, heaven is opening, this is my coronation day.” He had served God from the age of 19 and knew full well his ultimate destination.

At 92, when Billy Graham was asked of his thoughts on death, he personalized a quote from Mr. Moody, “Someday you will read or hear that Billy Graham is dead. Don’t you believe a word of it. I shall be more alive than I am now. I will just have changed my address, and have gone into the presence of God.”

Surely this is not a morbid subject. Are you certain of your ultimate destination? If you believe in Jesus Christ, His promises are clear. Don’t fear the transition of death, prepare for your coronation day!

James 1:12, Living Bible: “Happy is the man who doesn’t give in and do wrong when he is tempted, for afterwards he will get as his reward the crown of life that God has promised those who love him.”
