One of my favorite praise songs, I Can Only Imagine, is not technically a praise song, but if fits perfectly with my Pearls and Pigs post.
As I wrote about messy relationships, I especially realized they are exhausting, especially if you are a people pleaser like me.
As I contemplated a beautiful future full of peace, the song by MercyMe, I Can Only Imagine, came to mind. Honestly, I can’t really wrap my head around the purity of heaven’s beauty. Can I see myself in the presence of complete love and acceptance? Bart’s lyrics are so relatable:

I Can Only Imagine has become the most-played song in the history of Christian radio, becoming the best-selling Christian song of all time. Not only that, it became a huge crossover hit when mainstream Top 40, Adult Contemporary, and Country stations began playing it in 2003. It has been certified five-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
A film about the song’s origin story was released in 2018. The movie covers Bart’s difficult relationship with his father, played by Dennis Quaid. It shows the journey of forgiveness for both of them. The film exceeded box office expectations and ranks as the fifth-highest grossing music biopic of all time in the United States.

Can you sing this song and not cry? I can’t!
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes,
Revelation 21:4
and there will be no more death
or sorrow or crying or pain.
All these things are gone forever.”
