Hello! Get ready for Monday Motivation: Gentleness!
Whatever you have going this week, make time for yourself. Read, journal, pray, meditate, spend quiet time alone, and connecting time with family and friends.
Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is yet to be, so be present today. Every day is a new opportunity and a fresh start. This week I invite you to focus on this:
“Gentleness”
At first I considered if gentleness was the same as our prior challenge, “be kind.” Although they seem similar, let’s look at the differences.
Kindness is more of an action, where gentleness is more of an attitude or trait. Does gentleness come from a heart of kindness, or does a heart of kindness create the qualities of gentleness, like being calm and soft? Gentleness also adds the element of respect.
We all know people who easily get angry and are not afraid to show it. Whether they feel annoyed, disappointed, or really anything that happens outside their expectations, they get angry. Waiting too long for their coffee order: mad. Someone with 12 items in the 10 item checkout line: furious.
Part of gentleness is being humble enough to have an attitude of wanting to help other people instead of wanting to be superior to them. If someone is having a bad day, take the time to comfort them, standing beside them and offering a listening ear and encouraging thought, even if that delayed coffee order made you late for your next appointment—they are worth it!
Each new Monday Motivation will build off the last. Every slight change you make will have amazing results as you refocus your mind and attitudes towards the positive. Make it a wonderful week!
“Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry.”
James 1:19
“The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”
Proverbs 11:25
