How to Become a Christian

The Roman Road is a set of Bible verses describing the road to redemption. Let’s take a walk. You can meet Jesus and become a Christian.

First the backstory:

Jesus was in heaven, but God saw people needed help. God sent Jesus to be born a man to live a sin free life. Jesus was innocent, but took the blame for our sins against God, and paid the painful price of a bloody death. After Jesus died, he confronted hell and defeated death. After 3 days He returned to life. History records over 500 witnesses seeing Him alive! Upon returning to heaven, Jesus prepared a place of eternal life for those who accept Him as their Lord.

That is a lot to wrap our minds around! This is where faith steps in. We already use faith daily. For example, when we reach for the light switch, we have faith there is electricity running through the wire to illuminate the lamp. We can use faith to accept the gift of God’s grace.

Let’s Begin Our Journey

Our key verses are all from Romans:

“Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious ideal.” (3:23)

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (6:23)

“But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.” (5:8)

“For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in his heart that a man becomes right with God; and with his mouth he tells others of his faith, confirming his salvation.” (10:9-10)

“Anyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” (10:13)

After Your Walk on the Roman Road

Take a step of faith with God. Accept Jesus and rejoice in the miraculous! Pray aloud this prayer, written by Billy Graham:

“Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe Jesus Christ is Your Son. I believe He died for my sin and that you raised Him to life. From this day forward, I want to follow Him as my Savior and Lord. Guide my life and help me do your will. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.”
